Dave Thomas was born on July 2nd 1932 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and started his career as a fry cook at the Hobby House restaurant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1969, he founded Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers, named after his daughter Melinda Lou “Wendy” Thomas. His down-to-earth personality and famous catchphrase "Where's the beef?" made him an instant hit with customers.
