Annie Oakley was a legendary sharpshooter who rose to fame in the 1890s. Born Phoebe Ann Moses, she began shooting at age 8 and by 15 she was performing in circuses and Wild West shows. Her skills with a rifle earned her international acclaim, including an invitation from Queen Victoria of England. She appeared in several silent films such as "The Western Girl" (1912) and "The Little American" (1917), and even had a Broadway musical named after her, "Annie Get Your Gun!" (1946).
